Martin announces candidacy for Democratic nomination for Missouri U.S. 6th District

Republican U.S. Representative from Missouri's 6th District, Sam Graves will not be running unopposed to keep his seat this November.

Henry Martin, a U.S. Army veteran and current Missouri State High School Activities Association football referee, has declared his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Missouri District 6 in the 2018 election. He says Washington is full of people who lost sight of who they should be serving on Capitol Hill.

Martin served in the Army in Germany at the fall of the Berlin Wall, then in the Persian Gulf for both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. His military accolades include the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Overseas Service Medal, and the Missouri State Emergency Ribbon.

After returning to the United States, Martin spent 19 years in education, including four years as a building administrator. He was also a coach during that time. Martin says his platform involves a lot of discussion on the country's infrastructure. Martin says he is also in favor of affordable higher education.

Martin will be seeking the Democratic nomination for Sam Graves' seat in the primary election, which takes place Tuesday, August 7.
