Chillicothe R-II Board of Education approves items needed for new school

The Chillicothe R-II Board of Education met in regular session last Tuesday night. The highlight of the agenda was the new school the district is building in Chillicothe. Superintendent Dr. Roger Barnes said the district approved the suggested bid for furniture.

Barnes also said the board approved a bid from ConvergeTech Solutions based in Marshall, Mo. for voice-over internet phone service, security, access control systems, and wireless network equipment. In additiobn, the board approved an intergovernmental agreement with Chillicothe Municipal Utility to finance the utilities in the new building.

In other news from the meeting, there will be no election for the Chillicothe Board of Education. Incumbent board members Lindy Chapman, Paul Thomas, and Brent Turner were the only persons to file for the three open seats.
