Current Agricultural Issues

On this edition, Northwest President John Jasinski spoke with Rod Barr, chair of the Department of Agricultural Sciences and Kevin Barmann, a Nodaway County farmer about current agricultural issues. Barr said we have to figure out how to feed 9 billion people in the world. Barmann is working on it by producing food grade white corn which he trades with a local grain dealer who then sells it to Mexico. Barmann said by staying current on technology he can plant 40 to 50 acres an hour. He also spoke about his close relationship with Northwest, its students and alumni.
