Webb named Maryville Athletic Director

Dr. Logan Lightfoot announced Matt Webb as the new Maryville R-2 athletic director.

Matt Webb was announced as the new Maryville R-2 athletic director Thursday morning.

Maryville native Matt Webb will take the reins as the new Spoofhound athletic director for the 2024-25 academic year.

Superintendent Dr. Logan Lightfoot made the announcement Thursday morning.

Webb is a Maryville R-2 alum and the school's current head football coach. In 12 seasons leading the Spoofhounds he's posted a 137-24 record, including three state titles.

"We are delighted to congratulate Mr. Webb on his promotion to Athletic Director," Lightfoot said in a release from the school district. "His extensive experience and exceptional leadership qualities make him the ideal candidate to guide our athletics program. We look forward to witnessing his continued dedication and success in this new role."

Webb earned all-conference recognition three times as a linebacker at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. He earned a bachelor's degree in communication from WJC, and a masters in education from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO. He was a position coach at SBU and Southeast Missouri State University. Webb also spent a seven years coaching at NCAA Division I FCS Southeastern Louisiana.

Along with his athletics background and experience, he also holds certifications in education and strength training.

"I am honored to take on the role of athletic director within our district, building upon the foundation we've established together," Webb added in the school district's release. "Throughout our athletic department, Maryville has a proud tradition of acheiving great things, and this opportunity signifies a deeper commitment to the student-athletes, coaches, and community that I've had the privilege to serve as the head football coach. While continuing in the head football coach role, I am eager to help foster a culture of excellence and collaboration across our athletic programs, ensuring that every student-athlete has the opportunity to thrive and succeed both on and off the field."
