Maryville High School alumnus Serena Sundell and the Kansas State Wildcats will face the Missouri Tigers in the inaugural Bill Snyder Women's Basketball Classic at the Civic Arena in St. Joseph December 9.

The Power Five non-conference game between the Wildcats and Tigers was organized by the St. Joseph Sports Commission. The game's title pays tribute to College Football Hall of Fame Coach Bill Snyder, a graduate of St. Joseph Lafayette High School.

In addition to the marquee matchup, the game also features Sundell – a local standout that has become a force in the Big XII. The former Maryville Spoofhound averaged 14 points, five rebounds and two steals per game while shooting 48-percent and starting all 36 games for K-State last season. Sundell received All-Big XII Honorable Mention each of the last two years.

"They're always looking for an opportunity to get their student-athletes closer to home to play a game. Certainly Serena Sundell and her great history at Maryville High School, and she continued that at K-State," Brett Esely, the director of the St. Joseph Sports Commission, said. "Definitely I think that was a motivating factor to get her back to northwest Missouri."

Kansas State posted a 19-17 record last season. Mizzou is coming off an 18-14 campaign. The Bill Snyder Classic will mark the 84th all-time meeting between the rivals.

Ticket information will be released in early summer, with all sales facilitated through the Civic Arena Box Office.
