Spoofhounds set to host Football is Back Camp

The tradition that comes with the Maryville High School football program goes beyond just the players and coaches on the sideline every Friday night. This weekend future Spoofhounds will get their first chance to take the varsity field.

Saturday marks the second annual Football is Back Camp hosted by the Maryville High School football team. It is the first day the Spoofhounds are able to practice in full pads, and head coach Matt Webb wants to make it a celebration for athletes of all ages.

"Get everybody in the community, whether you're a third grader that just loves watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Travis Kelce catch touchdowns and you want to come out and be a part of a football community, you can come on. If you're on a flag football team, come on, get everybody on your team."

The camp is open to all levels of Maryville football, from youth flag and tackle, to seventh and eighth graders to learn the game and have fun.

"The older guys like watching the younger guys, and they remember when they were little kids looking up to the older guys. The younger guys get to look up to the older guys and hopefully see things done the right way."

Registration is at 7:30am Saturday at the Maryville High School football field. Camp begins at 8am. Cost to attend is any type of sports drink, like a six-pack or 12-pack of Gatorade or Powerade. The drinks go to the high school team for the duration of the season.
