Conference champ Spoofhounds well-represented on All-MEC team

Delton Davis and Derek Quinlin were unanimous First Team All-MEC selections on offense

 

After posting a perfect Midland Empire Conference record for the first time since 2019, the Maryville High School football team was well-represented by the league's postseason honors.

The conference champion Spoofhounds totaled 14 offensive and 11 defensive All-MEC selections.

Derek Quinlin and Delton Davis were unanimous All-MEC picks at quarterback and wide receiver, respectively, for the second year in a row. Quinlin threw for a Spoofhound record 409 yards in a week four win over St. Pius. He also shattered the old program career passing record with 4,846 yards. Davis set a new Maryville single-game receiving mark going for 189 yards in the same week four matchup. He also holds the program's new career receiving record finishing with 2,089 yards.

Lucas Vierthaler was the only two-way First Team All-MEC selection for the Spoofhounds. The junior tackle was an anchor on the line for an offense that put up 37 points and 378 yards per game. Vierthaler doubled as a game-wrecking defensive end that finished the year with 68 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and two sacks.

Gus McCullough earned first team all-conference honors in his first year as a starter for Maryville. The bruising linebacker picked up 92 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and a sack for a defense that limited opponents to 18 points per game.

All three levels of the Spoofhound defense were represented with top honors from the Midland Empire Conference. Ball-hawking safety Boston Hageman was a first team all-league defensive back. Hageman hauled in a pair of interceptions to go along with 73 tackles and one tackle for loss during his senior campaign.
