Family weekend at Northwest Missouri State is just days away marking the return of the annual Bearcat Athletic Trainers 5K on Saturday.
The event raises money for the athletic training fund at Northwest, aiding in the purchase of equipment and new treatments of student-athletes, and is vital for the training staff's day-to-day work.
All of the money raised from the event stays on campus.
"All the support and all of the donations we get go right back into our student-athletes. It affects every student-athlete," Assistant AD for Sports Medicine Matt Cannella said. "It's not just this one unit we were able to buy with the funds is for one sport, it's for all student-athletes. It's healthcare for every one of our student-athletes."
Check-in for the Northwest Athletic Trainers 5K begins at 6:15am Saturday, followed by the race at 7am at the circle drive in front of Lamkin Activity Center.
