Spoofhounds reel in All-MEC honors after dominant season

Maryville placed 5 on the all-conference first team.

A record-setting season for Maryville boys soccer resulted in a flood of all-conference awards for the Spoofhounds.

A league-high five student-athletes reeled in First Team All-Midland Empire Conference honors, while Matt Stoecklein was named coach of the year.

Jaxson Staples was deemed the top goalkeeper in the conference. Tuan Jacobson landed among the first team forwards, Gavin Wray and Boyd Gallaher were first team defenders, and Kason Teale was selected as a first team mid-fielder.

Stoecklein was named MEC Coach of the Year, leading Maryville to a 6-1 conference mark and a co-league title. The Spoofhounds posted 17 wins and the program's second trip to state with a third place finish.

In total, 10 Maryville student-athletes received all-conference recognition. The full All-MEC team is below.
