The St. Joseph museum will host a summer tour on August 21st beginning at 11 am. The day trip will feature a winery, boutiques, a brewing establishment, barbecue joints and a distillery. This event will feature different areas around the St. Joseph and Kansas City area that hold these events. Public Relations Officer for the St. Joseph Museum Kathy Reno says the idea for this event came from reading a magazine.

"We were reading one day a copy of Missouri Life magazine and the cover said 'brews, blues, and barbeque'.  And a former employee, who has since retired, said that would make an incredible day trip.  When you think of the Midwest, you think of those things.  You think of blues.  You think of good BBQ.  And breweries, wineries, and distilleries are throughout our area in Weston, Kansas City, and St. Joseph now.  We have a wonderful brewery of our own and several wineries.  So we built the trip around that theme."

Reno adds space on the trip is also limited.

"Space on the trip is obviously limited to what a motor coach can accommodate.  So our trips are usually limited to 45.  I may be able to go 50 on this one, but if we have step on guides.  So yes, space is limited.  I would say register as soon as you can.  But as long as people are registered by July 23rd, it'll be fine."

To register for the event In The Spirit, call the St. Joseph Museum at 816-232-8471 or visit StJosephMuseum.org/events. All registrations are due by July 22nd.
