A 30 year old Maryville man has been charged following sexual misconduct allegations with children who were 9 and 10 at the time of the incident which took place in Hopkins. Nodaway County Sheriff Randy Strong says the charges follow a forensic interview with two children at the Children's Advocacy Center in St. Joseph.

"They disclosed some criminal activity with an adult male that they identified as someone they knew, Michael J. Ebrecht, who had visited the residence.  So with that, we were familiar with that individual.  We brought him in.  He was questioned after waving his rights.  And with the information we gathered from him, we presented the case to Prosecuting Attorney Robert Rice."

Strong says Michael Jay Ebrecht has been charged with Sexual Misconduct Involving a Child Under 15, 1st Offense, a class E Felony.  Ebrecht has also been ordered to undergo a mental examination and has been delivered to a mental health facility for evaluation.
