Maryville City approves bid for Public Safety Facility

The Maryville City Council approved the bid from E-L Crawford Construction of St. Joseph for the construction of the new Maryville Public Safety Facility.
City Manager Greg McDanel says Crawford Construction's bid came in at 3 point 2 million dollars.

"Big shots, city staff, and elected officials really spent a lot of time with the architect to design a building that will be highly functional.  And in that process we were able to identify things that really got us competitive bids.  So we had seven very competitive bids mostly within our budget.  That's what's attractive about this project."

McDanel says work on the Public Safety project will begin soon.

"In order to save some cost, the City is going to do a little bit of grading and infrastructure placement in house.  So we're start that process probably within the next 10-14 days.  Really then move forward on the contractor probably within the next 30-45 days.  Hopefully have a facility up and complete by next fall."

The Maryville City Council last night also approved several updates to the city's building and construction codes.
