I-29 has been reopened northbound

The Missouri Department of Transportation has reopened the northbound lane of I-29 at the Highway 71 exit in Andrew County. Traffic Operations Engineer Adam Wood says they were able to reopen the interstate after the Iowa Department of Transportation completed work on the interstate following substantial flooding.

"I-29 closed for the second time this year for quite a long period of time.  A lot of that was due to I-29 being closed in Iowa.  There was some water over the road in Iowa and if we wanted to keep through traffic off of 29 in Missouri, so we closed it all the way down at Business 71.  Now that Iowa has their portion of the roadway back open, we were hopeful to fo ahead and open our portion of 29 as well."

Traffic may be narrowed to one lane in some locations between St. Joseph and I-80 in Iowa. Both MoDot and the Iowa Department of Transportation are working to keep I-29 open and continue to reopen other routes that were also damaged due to extensive flooding along the Missouri that began in mid-March.
