Grant to help inspire students to pursue careers in technical fields

The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce recently received a grant to help the chamber and the St. Joseph School District implement a regional solution to fill gaps in workforce development.

The grant will be used to inspire students in the St. Joseph area about technical careers through a series of programs put on by Edge Factor, a company that teaches students, teachers, and parents about local companies and opportunities while building relationships between schools and businesses.

Director of Communications and Marketing for the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce, Kristi Bailey says that the program inspires kids to pursue careers in more technical fields.

"It's really great for our local employers that it helps inspire more students to learn some trades that can help them get into the job field really quickly.  And it's great for students to learn that they have other options."

The first Chamber of Commerce event with Edge Factor will be September 24th.
