Albany resident dies in crash

A Gentry County resident died in a crash over the weekend on U.S. 136, 3 miles northeast of Stanberry. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 60-year-old Albany resident, David Newton, was eastbound in a pickup and 89-year-old Stanberry resident, Ralph Pierce, was attempting to cross the road southbound in his golfcart. Pierce drove into Newton's vehicle causing himself to be ejected from the golf cart that came to rest off the northside of the roadway. Pierce was pronunced dead at Mosaic Hospital in Albany.
