City Albany accepts grant for electric system

The City of Albany Board of Alderman met earlier this week. Connie Ford with the Missouri Public Energy Pool (MoPEP) presented the city with a grant award of $40,162 to support upgrades to the city's electric system. City Administrator for the City of Albany, Derek Brown says the grant is part of the MoPEP Power Infrastructure Modernization Grant Program.

"Major impact of reliability of our system and the grant is going to pay for about a third, a little more than a third, of the total cost."

The board also revised ordinances regarding consumption of intoxicating liquor and beer on public property and approved a land lease for future plans for a kiosk highlighting the history of the City of Albany.

"All-weather, touch-screen kiosk that has cemetery records, not only for the Grand View Cemetery but several others within Gentry County."

The revised ordinances on liquor consumption and public property would allow the Rhythm and Roots festival to host their beer garden on that property.

The next regular meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on May 21st.
