New Maryville Public Safety building is in process

The city of Maryville is continuing the process of building a new building for Maryville Public Safety.
Maryville City Manager Greg McDanel says the current building is simply out of date.

"We own a 1960s era remodeled grocery store into the public safety building on 3rd & Vine and it's simply inadequate on many levels for today's basic standards in fire fighting service, and law enforcement.  So we have secured land and are 80% through the engineering process in a new facility to be located on 1st & Vine."

McDanel adds the new building will be safer for MPS employees.

"It's going to be a night-and-day difference between this facility and what we currently operate in.  It's going to be safer for our staff, better for the community, and will allow us to more effictively provide again law enforcement and fire fighting services."

McDanel says the building is expected to go out to bid by later this month.
