Gas prices are on the rise

Missouri gas prices are unchanged in the past week averaging $2.57 a gallon, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 3,940 stations. Head of Petroleum Analysis at GasBuddy Patrick DeHaan says that gas prices have continued to go up across Missouri.

"The average statewide up $.03 a gallon in the last week.  It currently stands at $2.61 per gallon.  That's also $.18 a gallon higher than where we were a year ago.  The price of crude oil continues to push gas prices up.  Crude oil this morning touching a new six month high at about $65 a barrel.  Still some low prices across the state, as low as $2.42 a gallon.  On the high side, prices at some stations up to close to $2.90 a gallon.  So still a wide variety of prices across the state."

DeHaan adds prices will continue to increase for a couple of more weeks before we see them top out.

"Missouri prices may top off out say five to fifteen cents a gallon higher than today.  So we still have a little bit of upward movement to go, but I think the end is in view.  At least this time we certainly we'll be able to avoid seeing an average of $3 a gallon in Missouri which would be another about 39 cent increase."
