Brownville Concert Hall has started renovations

The Brownville Concert Series broke ground on renovations to the Brownville Concert Hall last week. The concert series received a Community Development Block Grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development in 2017 to cover approximately half the cost of the renovation. Chairman of the Brownville Concert Series Production Team, John Lauber, says there are two pieces to the renovation. The first is to comply with ADA standards.

"In order to do that we have to install what they refer to as a family restroom which they'll be a lift like an elevator to get people from the level of the parking lot to the second floor level of the building, main floor actually, and that's where we're doing the new restroom."

Lauber adds the second part of the renovation is to keep the building up to date with fire codes.

"The Nebraska Fire Marshal's Office codes for example.  The Brownville Concert Hall as it currently exists, the two floors are open and not closed off with a firewall."

The project is estimated to cost near a quarter million dollars and Lauber says it couldn't be done without support from the community.

"We've had fantastic support corporations, foundations in the area, individual donations, which is really really great.  We still have a little ways to go.  We have just put in something called the Grand Club which means if you give a $1000, you become a member of the Grand Club, and that's been very affective so far."
