Northwest to raise tuition

The Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents approved tuition, fees and room and board rates during yesterday afternoon's meeting on the Northwest Missouri State campus. Vice-President of Finance, Stacy Carrick says the board's action includes an increase in tuition rates.

"..presented and got approved a tuition increase based on the allowable limits within the state based on legislation.  That includes a 1.9% CPI as well as an adjustment for the decrease in the last couple of years in our state operating support.  We did not increase any of the fees, any of the designated or required fees, technology or textbooks.  No increase in the base room rates and 2.5% food CPI based on our contract with our third body provider."

Carrick adds the Northwest Board also approved changes to the graduate students rates.

"We're going from a resident/non-resident rate to program rates, one rate regardless of the residency.  The three programs or categories of rates are our business program, our computer science programs, and then all of our other graduate programs.  Now that'll be on our on-ground base programs as well as our online professional non-partnered programs."

The rates approved by the Northwest Missouri State Board of Regents will go into affect for the 2019-20 academic year.
