The Church Basement Ladies to perform Nov. 23- Dec 9

The Maples Repertory Theatre in Macon, Missouri will present Away In The Basement: A Church Basement Ladies' Christmas by The Church Basement Ladies; a singing, dancing group of women from the East Cornucopia Lutheran Church in rural Minnesota. Maples Repertory Theatre Artistic Director, Todd Davidson says the Church Basement Ladies' plays have been popular with their audience.

"The Church Basement Ladies are a group of women from the Lutheran Church in rural north Missouri.  And it's in the late 50's and early 60's when these shows take place and there are six shows in this series.  This is the 6th show that we've done here at the Maples Rep.  So it's a series all about these church ladies.  They are in the basement of the church.  So we just learn about the goings on of the congregation and the community by what these ladies talk about while they're working downstairs making dinner and that sort of thing."

Away in the Basement: A Church Basement Ladies' play will be held November 23rd through December 9th at the Royal Theatre in downtown Macon, Missouri.
