Thanksgiving Holiday Accidents

Nine people died on Missouri's roadways over the Thanksgiving Holiday counting period which began Wednesday night at six o'clock and ended Sunday evening at 11:59. According to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol., one of the nine fatalities was in northwest Missouri where a 60-year-old Shawnee, Kansas resident, Larry K. Whittet, was killed Wednesday evening when the car he was driving collided with another vehicle, struck an embankment and overturned at the 48.8-mile marker on I-29 in St. Joseph. The patrol also reports there were 587 accidents statewide with 108 injuries, 86 Driving While Intoxicated Accidents and 67 drug arrests.
In northwest Missouri, Missouri Highway Patrol officers conducted hazardous moving operations in Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Clinton, Dekalb, Harrison, Holt, Livingston and Nodaway Counties. The operations resulted in 124 traffic citations issued, seven drug arrests, 280 warnings given and 69 motorists assisted.
