Second Harvest to hold listening sessions

Second Harvest Community Food Bank of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas will be holding a community listening session in the region in the next two months. Communications Coordinator for the Second Harvest Community Food Bank Blake Haynes says Second Harvest is looking for feedback from their service area.

"The general public community is invited to these along with partner agencies.  We're basically just bringing everybody together to kind of have a confab: what are we doing, what do like about what we're doing, what maybe we could do better.  Basically just continue to build on those relationships wit the community and just help us feed and build hungry-free communities in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas."

Haynes says the last time Second Harvest held listening sessions, a need to improve access to their services in the rural area came out of those meetings.

"A lot of people were worried that maybe disabled and elderly and things like that couldn't access some fo the services that we're providing because they didn't have the needed transportation.  Well, that sparked us to then create the Fresh-Whole Pantry that we now service to 19 different sight locations.  They bring fresh produce and lean proteins to their doorstep."

Community listening sessions will begin in December at locations in St. Joseph, Savannah and Atchison. More listening sessions will be in January at locations in Bethany, Albany, Maryville, Princeton and Hiawatha. For more information visit on-line at www.OurCommunityFoodBank.org .
