Salvation Army in need of volunteers

The Salvation Army is once again taking volunteers for bell ringing in Nodaway County.
Special Projects Coordinator for Community Services Incorporated, Norma Eckerson says the money raised by bell ringing goes to benefit area residents in a number of different ways.

"And we're able to use that for those people who have specific needs.  Sometimes it might be transportation to a doctor's appointment.  It could be transportation to work.  It could be medicine.  It could be help with a partial month's rent, utility bills.  People who get employment where they need steel-toed shoes; sometimes we buy steel-toed shoes for people.  College students who are needing to take a test that they have to pay for but they don't have the funds to do that.  So it's a variety of things it could be used for."

The Salvation Army will have one kettle set up for collection at HyVee and two set up at Walmart in Maryville.  For more information on volunteering call 660-582-3113.
