Holiday Tea at the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion

The St. Joseph Museum is hosting a Holiday Tea at the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion next month.
The tea will take place Thursday, December 13th at the mansion at 1100 Charles Street in St. Joseph. The tea will feature sandwiches, sweets, smoked salmon, and chicken salad. There will also be some shopping available courtesy of the event host, Dillards Home Store. Public Relations Officer with the St. Joseph Museum Kathy Reno says the event is a great way to experience European Architecture as well as holiday decorations.

"It's built to look like a castle because that was their dream.  It think that's one thing that makes it special.  Oil-on-canvas paintings were created in Austria.  There's six different types of wood in the library floor.  It has some unique features.  It lends itself to being decorated.  It's gorgeous without decorations; it's even prettier with them."

Reno adds the rest of the mansion will be open during the tea as well.

"Visitors can also see all the exhibits at the mansion.  There are exhibits to St. Joseph architecture, E.J. Eckle who designed the mansion, the life and times of Ruth Warrick, and even confluence of the Great Flood of 93 about a natural disaster that changed the community.

The Holiday Tea at the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, December 13th. Pre-paid reservations are required due to limited seating. For more information or to make a reservation, call the St. Joseph Museum at 816-232-8471 or visit stjosephmuseum.org/events .
