Cricket to be demonstrated this Saturday

The Nodaway County Historical Society is helping sponsor a special opportunity tomorrow to learn how to play one of the most popular sports in the world. Coordinator of the Public History and Museum Studies Program at Northwest Missouri State University, Dr. Elyssa Ford, says several groups are coming together to give area residents a chance to learn more about the sport of cricket.

"We're working with the new Hughes Fieldhous, Maryville Parks & Rec, and our Indian and Nepalese Student Associations at Northwest."

The cricket event will be held at Northwest's Hughes Fieldhouse tomorrow from eleven a.m. to one p.m.  The event is part of the programming associated with the Nodaway County Historical Society's traveling Smilthsonian exhibit Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America.  Indian snacks and a special viewing of the Hometown Teams exhibit and other local sport exhibits will be available aftewards at the Nodaway County Historical Society Museum at 110 North Walnut in Maryville.
