2018 Swine Institute will be hosted next Wednesday

The Missouri Pork Association will host the 2018 Swine Institute next Wednesday to inform hog farmers about the latest research that will impact swine production. Director of Communications for the Missouri Pork Association Diane Slater says they plan on bringing in speakers who are experts in their fields.

"We're gonna go right into one of the biggest topics in the swine industry right now, which is African Swine Fever.  That is something that's popped up overseas.  Fortunately, it's not here in the States.  But we have a speaker with Pipestone Veterinary Services to come in and talk about that, and how a foreign animals' disease if it does come to the United States could really impact the swine production.  We have updates from our National Pork Producers Council and our National Pork Board.  We have Maryn Ptaschinski with the Institute for Infectious Animal Disease coming in to speak on the Secure Pork Supply Plan, what it is, and how we actually get it implemented in the States."

The Swine Institute will be held at the Pork Place on the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Missouri from 9:45 am to 4:15 pm next Wednesday, November 7th. For more information or to register for the event visit www.mopork.com.   Tomorrow, November 2, is the registration deadline.
