Maryville City Council works to set budget

The Maryville City Council  held a budget discussion prior to its meeting last night.
Maryville City Manager Greg McDanel says the council's discussion focused around the general fund, capital improvements fund, and health insurance for the city of Maryville.

"We went and switched to a Mirma health program last year, which is a partially self-funded pool for our employees.  Fantastic benefit plans.  We've been met with a 13-percent increase this year.  City council and staff have recommended to continue through that program, hopefully getting to fully self-fund and seeing long term benefits.  Some other things discussed were obviously some efforts in the general fund for employee wellness, also in the CIP for continued asphalt overlay, the Maryville Public Safety building, and the storm water work throughout the community."

McDanel adds the city council has tenatively scheduled a budget adoption meeting for 4:30pm on September 27.  The budget must be in place by the end of the fiscal year on October 1st.
