Howl-A-Palooza Celebration

The St. Joseph Animal Control and Rescue division is hosting Howl-A-Palooza this Saturday morning from nine to noon in the Corby Dog Park parking lot. Humane Educator Jennifer Lockwood says the event is held to celebrate pets and their owners.

"The theme this year is going to be 'howl-i-wood', so it's a Hollywood themed event with games, contests, prizes, and giveaways.  There are going to be vendors set up to offer their services and information.  It's going to be a fun event."

Lockwood adds they're offering city licenses, microchips, and dog park memberships at the event.

"City licenses and dog park tags are both $5.  For the dog park, the pet does need to be spade or neutered and up-to-date on vaccines.  We need proof of that before we sell the tags.  Microchips are going to be $10.  Outside adoptions are anywhere between $40 and $120 just depending on what the animal had done.  All adoptions - all cats and dogs - will be ready to go home that day.  So that's exciting; so you could take home your new friend that day!"

Dog park membership applications are also accepted during regular business hours at area veterinary clinics, St. Joseph City Hall, or the St. Joseph Animal Control and Rescue Shelter.
