Chillicothe named semifinalist for national Main Street award

Chillicothe is a semifinalist for a national award. According to Chillicothe City Manager Darin Chappell, the city is being recognized in the 'Great American Main Street' competition.

" 'Main Street' is a program for the preservation of historical context and also economic viability to downtowns.  Chillicothe is in one of 10 semi-finalists across the nation.  It's because of the downtown beautification and the fact that we have a 3% vacancy rate in our buildings downtown.  Our job production has increased, and our economic viability has increased.  So we've led the way in many of the categories across the nation.  It's good to be recognized for that."

Chappell says the winners in the 'Great American Main Street Awards' will be announced in February
