2 arrested for drug possession

Two people were arrested after a vehicle stop in Chillicothe Sunday. Officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 300 block of South Washington Street. The vehicle didn't stop in the business parking lot but continued west on South Street, then south on Graves Street, then back west on Olive Street before stopping for officers. Detective for the Chillicothe Police Department Michael Smith said officers grew suspicious.

"Officers were unaware and just suspicious of the fact that they didn't pull over right away in the business parking lot, so that raised their suspicions."

Officers made contact with a 39-year-old female and a 32-year-old male passenger. The female had a suspended driver's license. Smith says that further investigation revealed possible drug activity.

"Based off of the suspicions of the driving from the driver, the officer became suspicious and requested a K-9.  The Brookefield Police Department K-9 arrived on the scene and alerted to the possible presence of narcotics in the vehicle."

Smith says the Chillicothe Police Department is committed to getting drugs off the street.

"If there's drugs, we're going to find them.  We'll get a search warrat no matter where you decide to have drugs.  We're going to get a search warrant and we'll make sure we get drugs off the street."
