St. Joseph Animal Control seeks public input on proposed ordinance

The City of St. Joseph Health Department's Animal Control and Rescue Division is seeking input from the public on a proposed ordinance before it is presented to the City Council.

The Ordinance concerns dogs that have been restrained or tethered in a way that can harm them. Humane Educator with the St. Joseph Health Department Jennifer Loomis says the ordinance is due to field experience.

The Health Department is asking for community feedback on the ordinance. A survey will be available to the community through July 1.

The survey is available on the St. Joseph Health Department's page on the city of St. Joseph's website at www.stjoemo.info. The survey will also be available at the City of St. Joseph Health Department building at 904 South 10th Street and at the Animal Control and Rescue Shelter at 701 Lake Avenue.
