A Maryville resident and student at Northwest Missouri State University will compete for the title of Miss Missouri next week.
Miss Zona Rosa, Debrielle Patee-Merrill will compete alongside 30 other hopefuls in Mexico, Mo. Her platform is "It Can Wait" and is centered around texting and driving.
The preliminary competition will begin Tuesday, June 12 and will run through Friday evening, June 15. The finals are set for Saturday night, June 16.
The winner of the Miss Missouri Pageant will go on to compete at the Miss America Pageant, September 5-9 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
