MoDOT seeks public opinion on 2019-23 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program

The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking public opinion on the drafted 2019-2023 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, or STIP. Special Assignments Coordinator Bob Brendel says the first part of creating the proposal is estimating how much revenue the state can expect for the year.

The current draft includes 1,319 projects, featuring thousands of miles of road pavements and 172 bridges. Brendel says the public comment period allows the public to get involved in the projects they think are important, as well as raise concerns not addressed in the current draft.

After the comment period is over, planners will reassess the draft, making modifications to existing projects based on public comment, and adding suggested projects they deem warranted. The final draft will be presented to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for approval in July.

Those interested in seeing the program or offering comments can call MoDOT at 1-888-ASK-MODOT. The program is also available under the "Plans and Projects" section of MoDOT's website.
