MoDOT begins two-phase project on U.S. Route 36 in Cameron, Mo.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted Herzog Contracting Corporation to complete a two-phase project on U.S Route 36 in Cameron.

The first phase, which began yesterday is expected to last through Friday and involves installing traffic detection cameras at the intersection of US 36 and Bob Griffin Road. Most of the work should be limited to the shoulder, but a lane in each direction may need to be closed to complete the work.

The second phase, beginning Monday, will add a right-turn lane to US 36 eastbound at Bob Griffin Road. Currently, the road sports a 10-foot shoulder, this will be expanded into a 12-foot lane with a two-foot shoulder. This will involve narrowing US 36 to one lane between I-35 and Bob Griffin Road until construction is complete in about two weeks.

Crews plan to work during daylight hours Monday through Saturday, weather permitting, and traffic control will be in place to direct motorists. For more information, visit www.modot.org/northwest
