Lt. Governor Mike Parson to become Missouri governor

Missouri Governor Eric Greitens' resignation becomes official Friday at 5 p.m.

Greitens yesterday  announced his plans to resign after months of what he called "legal harassment." Republican Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson will become governor Friday evening and fill out the remaining years of Greitens' term in office.

Parson originally considering running for governor during the last election cycle but opted instead to run for the Lieutenant Governor's position. During an interview with KXCV News in early April Parson said he felt he made the right decision.

Parson began his political career as Polk County Sheriff in southwest Missouri and has served in both the Missouri House of Representatives and the State Senate.
