St. Joseph man dead following one-car accident

A St. Joseph man is dead following a one-car accident in Holt County over the weekend.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at around 4 a.m. Saturday, 55-year-old Jesus J. Faudoa-Morales was travelling southbound on Interstate 29 near mile marker 75, 5 miles north of Oregon, when the SUV he was driving skidded out of control and travelled off the westside of the lane. The SUV then returned to the roadway and travelled off the east side of the lanes into the median, where it then overturned onto the northbound lanes of I-29.

Faudoa-Morales, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle through the driver's side window, coming to rest on the eastern shoulder of the northbound lanes, while the SUV came to rest on its wheels in the northbound lanes, facing north. Faudoa-Morales was pronounced dead at the scene by the Holt County Coroner and his body was transported to Mierhoffer Funeral Home in St. Joseph.

The Holt County Sheriff's Office, Atchison-Holt EMS, and South Holt Fire Department all assisted with the accident.
