Great Northwest Day Steering Committee sets legislative priorities

The Great Northwest Day Steering Committee has set its legislative priorities for the delegation's visit to Jefferson City in February.

350 people from the 18-county Northwest Missouri region will visit Jefferson City Feb. 6-7 to present a cohesive message around the theme "Growing the Missouri of the Future." Great Northwest Day co-chair Brandt Shields says in addition to lobbying Congressional representatives about those issues, the delegation will be treated to a presentation during breakfast on Feb. 7. Shields says the featured speaker is Andrew McCrea, host of "The American Countryside," and a native of Maysville, Mo.

Shields says Great Northwest Day was created nearly two decades ago because it allows constituents direct access to not only their own representatives, but to lawmakers from around the state.

To register to be part of the delegation from Nodaway County, contact Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce Director Lily White at 660.582.8643 by Jan. 26.
