CHICAGO - The U.S. Census Bureau is re-starting its hand-delivery of the 2020 Census after suspending fieldwork due to COVID-19.
The Bureau plans to drop off questionnaire packets at the front doors of households that receive their mail at a P.O. Box.
Regional Director Marilyn Sanders told KXCV/KRNW that the hand-delivery effort most often affects rural areas and those in temporary housing.
Sanders adds that Census data collected in 2020 will be used to guide how $675 billion in annual federal aide will be distributed for the next 10 years.
Temporary field staff have been trained to observe social distancing guidelines and will wear be wearing personal protective equipment.
