Ryan Hawkins is putting together a spectacular sophomore campaign, and was recognized after a career night last week.
The MIAA named Hawkins co-Athlete of the Week along with Lincoln's Terrance Smith.
Hawkins, a native of Atlantic, Iowa, set the tone for Northwest in a 105-70 win over Northeastern State last Thursday with 31 points in 31 minutes of action.
He reached the new career-high in scoring on 10-13 shooting, including five three pointers, and he was 6-6 at the free throw line. He also finished the game with five steals.
Saturday at Central Oklahoma, Hawkins was battling a stomach bug throughout the game, but still managed to post an 18 point night with eight rebounds as Northwest picked up a 78-67 win.
Entering the week, Hawkins led the MIAA in rebounds and steals per game, and was ninth in the country with six double-doubles this season.
