Eight Bearcats qualify for NCAA Outdoor Championship Meet

Eight Northwest Track & Field athletes will complete their seasons on the biggest stage next week.

The NCAA Outdoor Championship Meet in Kingsville, Texas May 23 through May 25 will feature five athletes from the women's team and three from the men's squad.

The record-setting 4x400m relay team of Hiba Mahgoub, Jordan Hammond, Mercedes Isaacson-Cover and Moe Bianchi qualified with a time of 3:44.76 -- the fastest time in Northwest history.

Isaacson-Cover will also compete in the triple jump, and Hammond will run the 400m hurdles and 100m hurdles.

Haley Craig also qualified in discus with a throw of 48.63m.

Kevin Schultz leads the way for the men's side.

The Platte City native enters the meet with the best high jump in the country this year: 2.20m.

Marcus Klein will compete in the long jump, and Omar Austin will be running the 400m dash.
