A new experience awaits the current Bearcat women's tennis team as they enter the Sweet 16 Wednesday morning, but the match in Altamonte Springs, Florida will bring Northwest a familiar sight.

The Northwest Missouri State women's squad is in the round of 16 for the first time since 2008. Their opponent, however, is a team they played less than two months ago -- Midwestern State.

The Bearcats beat the Mustangs 5-2 in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 24, feeding Northwest even more confidence as they enter the day winners in eight of their last nine matches.

"I thought we played extremely well that day," head coach Mark Rosewell said of the previous match against Midwestern State. "I think it's a good draw. As good as you're going to get down there for the final 16, because now all of the teams are very good as always. We played them on their courts (in March), this time it will be on neutral courts, so I think that might give us a little momentum, too."

Despite a loss to Northwest earlier in the season, MSU is the No. 7 seed in the final 16, while the 'Cats come in at No. 10.

The winner faces the winner between No. 2 Indy and No. 15 Goldey-Beacom on Thursday.
