Northwest Men's Basketball picked to win 5th straight MIAA title

Under head coach Ben McCollum, Northwest Missouri State men's basketball has won five MIAA regular season titles, including four in a row.

This year, the conference's coaches are picking the Bearcats to add to that total again this year.

Northwest topped the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll receiving all 13 first place votes that they're eligible for -- coaches can't vote for their own team.

Central Missouri came in second in the rankings, followed by Washburn, Nebraska Kearney and Central Oklahoma rounding out the top five.

The Bearcats return the NABC National Player of the Year in Justin Pitts, and the team's second-leading scorer Chris Ebou-Ndow.

Northwest's first game action comes on October 27th in an exhibition against Duke University.
