Construction work on the U.S. Route 71 and Maryville Main Street intersection continues today.
According to a report from the Missouri Department of Transportation, the project is in its final stages with asphalt work, striping and a traffic pattern switch planned. Stripers are scheduled to continue to remove old striping and restripe the intersection today.
New stop bars will also be striped in the southbound and eastbound directions and new signals will be activated. This will require electrical work though most of the day to bring the new signals online.
In early spring, plans are to complete the project by resurfacing Route 71 from north of Route A in Nodaway County to north of Route 48 in Andrew County.
