Highlighting last night's 57th annual Farm-City Banquet sponsored by the Maryville Chamber of Commerce was a keynote address by Missouri Agriculture Director Chris Chinn. Chinn says her office is focusing on a couple of issues affecting agriculture in Missouri. In particular, Chinn stated she feels Missouri Agriculture should address eliminating problems the state faces with hunger.
Several annual awards were also handed out during last night's event. The Nodaway County Outstanding Farm Youth Award was presented to Taylor Combs; Outstanding Farm Woman to Michele Rosenbaum; Agriculture Advocate of the Year to State Representative Allen Andrews; Outstanding Farm Family to the Hoepker Family; Outstanding Conservationist(s) to Dennis and Angie Simmerman.
Named to the University Extension Leaders Honor Roll were Willis Spire and Kenny Wilmes; and, inducted into the Nodaway County Agriculture Hall of Fame were Richard and Lois Brand.
