Oct. 6, 2017MARYVILLE, Mo. | By: Coffey / Brown
U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) will be in Maryville next Tuesday morning, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m., to hold a town hall meeting at the Nodaway County Senior Center. She is expected to take questions about the Center's loss of state and federal funding as well as proposed federal tax cuts for businesses and individuals.
Recently McCaskill filed a bill against using tribal authority to extend the length of pharmaceutical patents.
That's because pharmaceutical company Allergan transferred patents on its eye medicine Restasis to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe, which has used tribal sovereignty to avoid its patent being subject to a challenge at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by generic drug companies. McCaskill says she filed a bill to make that practice illegal.
