Missouri State Highway Patrol reminds farmers and drivers to stay alert on roadways

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reminds drivers to stay aware during this time of year.

As farmers harvest their crops, heavier farm machinery traffic can be expected on rural highways. Farmers and motorists need to share the road in a safe and courteous manner. Public Information Officer with the Patrol, Lieutenant Paul Reinsch, says anytime farmers are out during the daytime both farmers and motorists need to be careful and watch out for each other.

Reinsch says there were 158 Missouri traffic crashes involving farm equipment in 2016. In those crashes three people were killed and 62 were injured. Reinsch adds reducing the number of crashes is the main priority of the Missouri State Highway patrol.
