A Grant City, Mo., driver was seriously injured after traveling off the roadway, striking an embankment and overturning multiple times on Missouri Highway 31, 4 miles north of Clarksdale in DeKalb County yesterday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 86-year-old George L. Young traveled off the west side of the roadway, returned to the road, crossed the center line on an uneven newly paved road, overcorrected, traveled off the west side of the road again, struck an embankment, overturned several times, struck a fence and came to rest off the west side of Missouri Highway 31.
Young was transported by DeKalb Clinton Ambulance to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.
