St. Joseph driver leads officers on chase through several counties

A St. Joseph resident has been charged in Taylor County, Iowa, following a car chase that ended near Bedford; authorities filed charges against Kelsey Dawn Amos of St. Joseph for felony eluding.

At around two o' clock Monday morning the Clarinda Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Amos. Clarinda police pursued the vehicle south of Clarinda on Highway 71 into Missouri.

The Nodaway County Sheriff's Department and the Maryville Police Department joined in the pursuit east on Route JJ to Hopkins. A Nodaway County deputy successfully deployed spike strips that deflated the front passenger side tire. From Hopkins the vehicle traveled north into Bedford then west on Highway 2 before stopping near Diamond Avenue.

A search of the suspect and vehicle led to the finding of cocaine, methamphetamine, and currency. A male passenger was transported to Clarinda  Regional Medical Center for illegal drug related conditions.

Investigation  continues with additional charges against Amos and her passenger likely to be filed at a later date.

Authorities from the Clarinda Police Department, the Page County Sheriff's Department, the Nodaway County Sheriff's Department, the Maryville Police Department, the Taylor County Sheriff's Department, and the Adams County Sheriff's Department assisted in the pursuit.
