Foresters with the Missouri Department of Conservation have confirmed the presence of emerald ash borers in Andrew County in northwest Missouri.
The emerald ash borer is a small, metallic green beetle native to Asia that only attacks ash trees. Media specialist for the Missouri Department of Conservation Bill Graham says the larvae of the beetles is what causes most damage to the trees.
The Missouri Department of Conservation encourages people who own ash trees to have a plan to either treat or remove affected trees.
